Parks and Recreation makes a hipster pop culture reference

The hip pop culture blogs have been flipping their deuces over this one. Thursday night Parks and Recreation’s resident hipster made a Neutral Milk Hotel reference. Hipsters and Alts everywhere were blogging about it. I don’t understand why. Comedians are generally hip/young people. Comedic writers listen to indie bands. All other pop culture references have been made a thousand times over by South Park, Family Guy, etc. Add the fact that Aziz Ansari is BFFFs with James Murphy, and I’m more surprised that it took so long to make an NMH reference.

I’ll be more amazed when a tv show references Hipsterjew.
