For those of you who haven’t been to an AMC/Large Corporate Movie Theater since “Moonrise Kingdom” came out, you may have missed the trailer for the newest ‘demonic-possession-based-on-a-true-story’ film that’s due out at the end of August.
Now you haven’t missed it.
Sam Raimi,of “Xena: Warrior Princess” fame, himself of Ashkenzai Jewry, uses the demon of Yiddish folklore; The Dybbuk, to inspire “The Possession.” What would otherwise just be another boring exorcism movie with Catholic mumblings throughout, now will be another boring exorcism movie with Jewish mumblings throughout.
Interesting factoid found while perusing wikipedia, “Dybbuk” was the code name assigned to Adolf Eichmann by the Mossad agents who apprehended him.
Why is this film noteworthy, one might ask?
Matisyahu, former Rapping Hasid Extraordinaire, has a minor role which includes Peyot and beard…as a Hasidic Rabbi.

I really want to see a Zombie Apocalypse movie that revolves around Jews. Kinda want to know if Chabad will try to get zombies to put on teffilin or not.
