Art Spiegelman is best known for Maus, the comic about the Holocaust that Jewish schools make 12-year-old boys and girls read. This ensures that another generation will be forever scarred and guilted by the Holocaust. Although, if it’s in comicbook form then it’s automatically acceptable for young children adults to read it.
But that’s not all he’s known for. For a few of us who were born in the early 1980s, we’ve got this little piece of childhood pop culture to thank Art Spiegelman for (just don’t let those 12 year olds know Art wasn’t obsessed with the Holocaust…).
