Talk about the crux of self-hating Jewery. Turns out GOP Jews hate themselves. Which isn’t that surprising…when you realize how much it must crush your soul to vote for demagoguery and selfishness on the reg. (Note: When I do vote [I don't], I vote for the Green Party. I’m the most interesting Jew in the world. End viral advertising spoof.)
And like all Jewish organizations, the Republican Jewish Coalition has decided tonight to silence those whose opinions may not be ‘mainstream’. Say what you will about crazy old Ron Paul, but not letting him talk to the Joos all because of his position to cut aid off to Israel, is a sad reflection of Judaism’s continued resistance to legitimate debate in a market of free ideas. Which is something you’d think Republicans would be okay with, especially when these free ideas don’t hurt anyone’s rights nor are they racist or discriminatory.
Ron Paul: Too crazy. Herman Cain and Michele Bachman: Not crazy enough (?).
But this rant isn’t even about Ron Paul. Nope. It’s about the first ever actual Jewish GOP presidential candidate.
What has gone less noticed is the non-invite to Fred Karger, the admittedly fringe (popularity-wise, not ideology-wise) candidate who is himself a Republican Jew. As columnist Michelle Goldberg reported a few months ago, Karger, a longtime GOP hand who came out of the closet several years ago, is running primarily to expose and embarrass Romney, the frontrunner, for his strong support of and adherence to the severely antigay Mormon Church. But not incidentally, he is also, he says, the first Republican Jewish candidate. “We established prior to the extending of invitations a set of criteria that needed to be met,” Brooks told me, “including having a threshold amount of money raised, threshold polling in multiple national surveys, and a national campaign organization.” Karger didn’t meet those requirements, he added. (Tablet Mag)
Spoiler Alert: He did reach those requirements, as did Ron Paul. But the Jewish Republican Coalition isn’t actually looking for a candidate that isn’t going to blow the JRC and Israel 24/7. Support Israel and support everyone who supports Israel, or be a dirty communist Jew.
But if it makes you feel better, the Joos probably don’t want him to run because we already control the national and world banks. Think about how bad it would look if a Republican Jew won the presidency. An articulate, non-traditional Republican. That’d sure make Jews look bad everywhere.
Right?
