I have a chronic problem I would like to share with you.
It involves me, sleep, and classes.
More specifically it involves me not getting enough sleep at night, then doing the sleeping thing in class. In my defense, we do watch a lot of silent films from the early 20s in most of my classes and those seats are super comfortable.
Today, I ran into my professor in the hallway and he called me “Sleepy Schlitz”. But not Schlitz, because he doesn’t know my Hipster Jew alias, he knows my Peter Parker self. Because he and I aren’t that close.
Anyway, let me explain to you why this sleep deprivation (which is rudely made up for in classes) happens. I wake up. Early. Every morning around either 8 or 9. Then, I spend all day running around doing things that will benefit my “future” as a filmmaker (barista). Then at 3, after reading all the Hipster Jew posts of the day (and you should too!), I attempt sleep.
And coffee, I am sorry, hipsters and Israeli readers, is not exactly an option. Coffee makes me all queasy and jumpy and uncomfortable to be around. So that beautiful means of keeping alive and giddy is out of the question for me.
Unfortunately this heart is not meant for me.
Readers, I don’t know what to do. I”m putting my life in your hands. Any suggestions?

Just remember to keep a pen in your hand when your head’s on the desk to make it look like you’re taking notes.

Have you ever tried drinking tea in the morning? Earl Grey or green tea may have enough caffeine in it to keep you conscious but not make you queasy. I’ve heard “Yerba Mate” is good, too.

Love the brutal honesty of filmmaker (barista). Maybe wear those big sunglasses from 2006 and sleep sitting up?
