If you haven’t heard the news, former Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh was found dead in a hotel room in Chicago. Most likely an overdose. This is sad because Mikey was the most well-known non-political figure currently living in Vermont. Usually local musicians who make it big end up moving to NYC/Brooklyn because, well, that’s where fame and success happens. I’m sure someone out there is going to point out how Phish still lives in VT (atleast 1 or 2 of them), that Grace Potter and Niko Case (The New Pornographers) also live here, and that Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello) has family here. But will any of their albums ever compare to the Green Album? Nope. And it wasn’t even a particularly good album.
