Greetings fellow Hipster Jews and Jewesses, it is I, A-Train, self-employed woodsman ! For those 1-2 of you who’ve read my posts before, you’d know that I’m in Israel for the better part of the next 10 months. Below is an update:
Travel day 1. New Orleans to JFK. 9 hour layover in JFK. Not quite enough time, or knowledge, to do anything given the legendary gridlock of NYC. I passed the time playing by myself and fighting with the other boys. Eventually met up with my travel companion. She proved good company for the next 20 or so hours of our trip.
The next leg of my journey was on Royal Jordanian Airlines. It was a long, cramped and smelly flight, but the food wasn’t that bad, the flight attendants were quite good and I managed to sleep for a part of it.
Travel day 2. Landed in Amman, Jordan many hours and timezones later, none-too-thrilled about my upcoming layover. I was unable to exit the airport because I lacked the proper visa. While at the airport, I felt like a Hipster at a Hadassah meeting, out of place and constantly being proposed to in exchange for a few camels. The final flight was excellent, they served fruit juice, and my bag wasn’t destroyed at the TLV airport! A brief cab ride later, and I arrived, weary and still reppin’ an ironic Tee.
Since then I’ve gone to school and rode public transportation to get there. I have yet to find a fixed gear bike, but I have grown an ironic beard to “blend in with the locals”.
Keep it indifferent and drunk,
A-Train
