Electra is one of those Tel Aviv indie bands that you need to brag to all your friends about how you discovered them first. Now they themselves claim that they are a “power-pop-punk trio!”, exclamation point their own. I’m not convinced. They’ve got that early 60s surfer-rock vibe that makes you reminisce about your childhood listening to The Oldies station. A more dynamic and complex Oldies station.

Frankly, I’m not convinced they are even Israeli. Where are their thick Israeli accents and miserable English skills punctuating the English lyrics? I’m calling bullshit on this one. But it’s not like I really care. They can lie to me all they want as long as they are going to record more bodacious tunes.
If you like what you hear, friend them on Facebook.
If you want to hear more before you too wish you were going to SXSW this year, check out some more of their music here.

(I really hope they put that up on their own website. Probably the best praise we can give a band.)

They’re Israeli alright, I ate Falafel with the drummer the other day.
