[Note: If you know of any other bands, feel free to email them to music [at] hipsterjew [dot] com. We currently have only 8 Jewish musicians/bands attending that we know of. We know you hipster Jew musicians are out there.]
As far as I am concerned, we at Hipsterjew are the biggest American bloggers/supporters of Tel Aviv indie music. I expect to receive a key of the city by 2012. Then the world can end. I won’t care; my life will be complete.
Until then, I’ll continue to review the best music that Israel has to offer. Case in point: Eatliz
Now this band, I’m not really sure how to describe them. I’m not sure if they know how to define themselves. Sometimes they sound like Paramore, maybe a bit like Kim Deal from The Pixies, and other times like your local favorite heavy metal band. It can be confusing.
Now, I don’t know much about computer animation, but this music video won a Spike Lee Award. Which I’m pretty sure is important. Although if only they had won the Spike Jonze Award, then they could become the next Arcade Fire. Alas. I like Spike Lee’s work better.
Either way, if you are into the international indie scene, expect to see Eatliz coming around more often. Not in a Steve Urkel kind of way. More like Corey Matthew’s badass somewhat-neglected best friend in Boy Meets World.
