Sometimes the internet is more confusing than anything else. For example, there’s this new Hipster Ariel thing going on.
Um…. what?
Seeing as I’m this site’s resident hipster sociologist, I immediately set out to investigate. But really, from what I can tell this is a pretty new meme, even if it is just a blatant ripoff of Hipster Cat (which is a ripoff of Advice Dog, which is a repost of a repost repost, etc.) So someone on buzzfeed or Tumblr just has too much time on their hands.
Hipsters combining with Disney? Sellouts.
I guess my main complaint is… why Ariel? There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. I thought someone totally removed from human society would be immune to youth trends, but I guess the prince has a taste for cheap beer, fake glasses and Parliaments that has rubbed off on her. Still, it’s baffling. And popular enough to have its own twitter, facebook (so mainstream, amirite?) and tumblr accounts.
Okay, I admit this one made me laugh.
