Initially I lightly mocked Amar’e Stoudemire’s supposed conversion to Judaism. It come off as a stunt and was played pretty toungue in cheek by most media and even Amar’e himself. It just came off as maybe him trying to pander to his new city a bit (He plays for the New York Knicks in case you didn’t know). But after reading that he keeps kosher in SI, I’m much more inclined to believe that his intentions are good, even though now he insists that he is not Jewish, though he may have a distant relative who was. He says he doesn’t actively practive any religion…but still he keeps Kosher.
But Stoudemire does keep kosher at home. “It’s a matter of learning the most I can about every culture and trying to bring people together,” he says, over a dinner of herb-crusted chicken breast, sautéed spinach and challah bread, prepared by his kosher chef. “That’s New York.”
How many reading this blog manage to do that?
