I remember sometime around 1st grade, my class went on a field trip to a pumpkin patch to go pumpkin picking. At one point, we all sat on bales of hay in the back of a truck owned by the pumpkin patch, and took a ride out to where the pumpkins were. Although the New England autumn scenery that passed by was a beauty to behold, the ride was very bumpy. After one particularly bumpy bump, my precocious little 6 yr-old self belted out “Sheesh! Women drivers!” Fortunately, this joke was not lost on my teacher (a woman driver herself), who cracked up laughing and told a chaperon or other teacher what I had said, presumably bragging in some way about the intelligence of her students.
