Well well well well well well well. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it gets you out of tickets and allows you to jaywalk, and sometimes cops get power hungry and make you break the Sabbath.
As the illustrious NY Post told:
The rabbi claims the “rotten cop” forced him to write his name on a piece of paper — a violation of the Jewish Sabbath — or face arrest, since he wasn’t carrying identification when they stopped him for improperly crossing Kings Highway and E. 15th Street at 5:40 p.m.
“I told him, ‘I’m a Sabbath observer. I can’t write today,’ ” the rabbi said. “He said, ‘You have to write it down, and it has to be done very neatly so I can read it. If I can’t read it, I’m going to have to take you in,’ ” Emert recalled.
Because every good Jew knows that U.S. laws don’t REALLY matter. I mean they do, if you get caught. But if the Torah doesn’t say it’s wrong for me to illegally cross a street, then it’s okay. And if the Torah says it’s okay for me to speed to ensure I make it home in time for the Sabbath because I can’t manage my time, well then that is my RIGHT as a Jew. AND if the choice is either that I get thrown in jail for beating my wife, or it gets hushed up because it makes Jews ‘look bad’, well then we sure as shit hush that up.
What? What did you say about those Muslins trying to impose Sharia Law on all of us here in this good ol’ Ammmerrica? Oh, they’re terrible people and shouldn’t be able to practice their religion or laws the way they want.
