Brandon Jennings is a hipster. Part of what I’m supposed to do here (at HJ) is that you other damn hipsters know which athletes are hip. And I’m letting you know that Brandon Jennings needs to be one of your favorite NBA players before he becomes mainstream and ends up on the Knicks or something.
Let’s start with looks. Well, he rocks a somewhat ironic, defiantly retro high top fade.
I’m pretty sure the high top fade is the black equivalent of the bushy 70′s porn stache as far as ironic hair statements go. He goes with this hairstyle and looks simultaneously ridiculous and awesome. Fucking hipster.
Moving to basketball related matters. He started his career by rejecting college because playing for a year before heading to the NBA was “too conformist” (not an actually quote). He decided to spend a year bumming around Italy to circumvent the NBA’s age rules. I’m just guessing, but I bet he wasn’t too impressed with the various art school’s basketball programs. So he returned to the states.
Now, after being in the NBA for a year, he’s like the perfect indie music find. He’s great, but relatively unknown. Dude plays in Milauwke so no one outside of there thinks of him as a star. You can jump on the Jennings bandwagon now before it gets big and then you can mock fans who weren’t there from the start, all while rocking his Lottomatica Roma jersey.
